I'm always so glad when Friday rolls around - Saturday I torch! Of course, tomorrow is the first Saturday of the month, which means baths for all the dogs and hair color touch-up for me. But, with luck, I should be melting glass by 10 or 10:30. And, my new thimble mandrels arrived this week, so I can try them out. And the rest of the weekend looks pretty calm, although Tony wants to meet friends for drinks late Sunday afternoon. That's just about the time I'm getting to wind down (as in that's my only 2 or 3 hours in the week to be a total couch potato-ette) but he doesn't make many of these "demands."
Here's a "baleen" bead I did last weekend. This is actually a Michael Barley technique rip-off - I think. I didn't get to take from him the last time he was in Austin, which is of course when he decided to share this particular "look." I've never even seen one of his baleen beads in person, but to my eye this looks like a pretty good imitation. If there's such a thing as imitating Michael Barley! (Sadly, all the little fleck things are dust - guess I should have paid more attention to house work before I took the picture...)
